Offer a better EV cabin comfort experience for passengers

To reduce range anxiety, optimizing energy management of electric vehicles (EVs) is crucial. Under extreme temperature conditions, managing thermal comfort in the cabin is one of the biggest energy consumers. Does this mean that passenger comfort must be sacrificed for the sake of autonomy? What options are available to engineers to balance this critical challenge? From early-stage up to calibration, how could you predict the passenger thermal comfort and minimize its impact on the global energy flow?

The missing link in your EV cabin thermal management strategy

There are two modeling strategies in predicting the thermal system performance. System simulation can perform system architecture sizing and evaluate the design at the stage of integration. In contrast, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation offers a very detailed analysis at the component level. In a siloed approach, either simulation allows you to evaluate various levels of fidelity of your system. However, using both simulations in parallel can accelerate and further secure your design process.

To introduce the missing link that combines the best of both worlds, join us in this webinar with Fred Ross, Director, Simcenter Solutions for Automotive and Transportation, Fluid & Thermal Domain, and Thomas Desbarats, Head of the Thermal Product Management Team for Siemens System Solution. You will learn how using simulation with a continuous 1D – CFD approach in a structured and intuitive workflow can optimize your electric vehicle cabin thermal management strategy.

Frederick Ross:Director, Simcenter Solutions for Automotive and Transportation, Siemens Digital Industries Software

Frederick started with CD-Adapco in 1989, which was acquired in 2016 by Siemens, and has extensive experience working with customers on applications such as vehicle heat protection, aerodynamics, and passenger thermal comfort. Frederick has been directly involved in development processes enabling automation of virtual vehicle simulation from CAD to results. Frederick is currently working with the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ product management team to help customers streamline their in-house processes.

Thomas Desbarats:Head of Thermal Product Management Team for System Simulation, Siemens Digital Industries Software

Thomas is the Head of Thermal Product Management Team for System Simulation and started his career working for French automotive manufacturers. After more than ten years of performing 3D CFD, thermal simulation, and system simulation, he became a presales manager of the 1D application engineers team in France for five years. From 2016 to 2021, he focused on thermal and energy management applications for customers worldwide, always trying to find the best way to effectively deploy simulation in engineering teams. Currently, he leverages all these experiences as head of the thermal product management team for Siemens System Solution to deliver the best possible alignment between users' daily needs and our products.

... Leer más
